Sandra Wright Opens Jackson Gore Music Series
Submitted by Okemo Mountain Resort
The Jackson Gore Outdoor Music Series returns for its third summer season starting on Friday, May 30 with Okemo Valley’s own Sandra Wright Band.
True to her Memphis roots, Vermont’s “Blues Diva,” remembers the flavors of Beale Street through her performances while playing for packed houses and enthusiastic audiences in high-profile venues like the Toronto Soul & Blues Festival, Ben & Jerry's One World Festival, the DuMaurier Jazz Festival in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and the Jackson Gore Outdoor Music Series. The current lineup of the Sandra Wright Band features the Nerbak Brothers - Dave on guitar and Matthew on drums, as well as keyboardist Michael Sucher.
On Friday nights throughout the summer season, the lawn in the courtyard at Okemo’s Jackson Gore Inn will be transformed into an outdoor concert venue featuring renowned local and regional entertainers. Admission to the Jackson Gore Outdoor Music Series is free (except for the June 27 performance of the Vermont Symphony Orchestra) and the grounds open at 5 p.m. Concerts are slated to begin at 6 p.m. and end at 9 p.m. Families are welcome and all attendees are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs or blankets. In case of rain, the concerts will move indoors. An outdoor barbecue will be available, as well as dining in Jackson Gore’s Coleman Brook Tavern.
Following the Sandra Wright Band, the summer lineup for the Jackson Gore Outdoor Music Series includes: Nobby Reed, June 6; Skyla Burrell Blues Band, June 13; Chris Kleeman Band, June 20; Fry Daddy, July 4; Revision, July 11; The Gully Boys, July 18; Adam Payne and 2Adam12, July 25; The Few, Aug. 1; Spiritual Rez, Aug. 8; Michael Cleary Band, Aug. 15; Twiddle, Aug. 22; Dr. Burma, Aug. 29.
