CCCA TO SPONSOR ENERGY FORUM IN CAVENDISH

Submitted by Peter J. LaBelle

The Cavendish Community and Conservation Association will sponsor a forum on the future of energy production for and in Vermont, with a focus on the pros and cons of the various forms of energy available to us and on the future of the aging Vermont Yankee Nuclear facility in Vernon which is currently seeking a license for renewal of operations.  The program is scheduled for 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Monday, June 23rd in the multi-purpose room of the Cavendish Town Elementary School. The panel presentation will include James Moore - Clean Energy Advocate for VPIRG; Ernie Shand - State Representative; and Dallas and Leslie Cox of the Cavendish Solar Store.  The discussion will consider the many, varied conventional and alternative energy sources that are available or under development.  Also on the agenda is a discussion of what the State of Vermont is doing and supporting in the way of alternatives to the rising costs of fuel and power, including updates on State actions in connection with Vermont Yankee and Hydro Quebec.  The program is free and open to the public.  Bring your questions and concerns and join us for what promises to be an educational evening.
