MONTPELIER — City Manager William Fraser has recommended that the City Council consider reducing the upward trend in the budget by $375,000 next year, a proposal that left some residents frustrated.
Fraser presented his proposed budget to the City Council at Wednesday’s meeting, which drew an unusually large crowd of about 20 people thanks to a citizens group called Vibrant and Affordable Montpelier.
In response to the group’s demands for a reduced budget and lower property taxes, Fraser presented a 262-page report offering several budget scenarios outlining different degrees of cuts.
