MONTPELIER — Mayor Mary Hooper announced at the City Council meeting Wednesday that she will not run for re-election next year.
Hooper has served as mayor since 2004, and when her term ends next year, she will be tied with Chuck Karparis, her predecessor, for the longest-serving mayor in the history of Montpelier.
“That feels like that’s been long enough,” Hooper said in an interview Thursday.
