MONTPELIER — City officials say that the pedestrian bridge that crosses the Winooski River and located off of Memorial Drive has to be replaced.
That bridge was built in 1998 and cost $250,000, Director of Public Works Todd Law said.
It has been deemed unsafe and is now closed.
If the bridge was operational for 13 years, that comes out to nearly $20,000 a year to transport walkers and cyclists over the river.
The bridge was built by Steadfast Bridge Company of Birmingham, Ala.
