MONTPELIER — The Montpelier School Board and the new superintendent are trying to find roughly $500,000 to eliminate a gaping hole in next year’s school budget.
Superintendent Brian Ricca warned the school board in October to expect a half-million-dollar shortfall in next year’s budget.
At that meeting, Ricca said the problem stems from increases in labor costs mandated by contracts, a reduction in federal education funding and declining enrollment in the Montpelier School District.
