Huge fire in downtown Springfield

SPRINGFIELD -- A five alarm fire last night gutted the Ellis Block in downtown Springfield. Springfield Fire Chief Russell Thompson said the fire broke out around 11 p.m. and firefighters first on the scene encountered heavy smoke and a roaring fire on the second floor of the building, which houses the Springfield Movie Theater as well as apartments in the upper floors.
