As the country remembers and memorializes the one hundred and fiftieth anniversary of the Civil War, the Black River Academy Museum (BRAM), in cooperation with the Amity Art Foundation, is presenting a series of exhibitions of art and ephemera related to that war. The current exhibit will be on display at BRAM on December 9 and 10 at 6 PM. As part of the exhibit, two Black River Middle and High School students have worked on a documentary video at the museum dealing with slavery in the Civil War. Pictured above are Vincent Guerrera, a senior at BR High School, and Aiyana Fortin, a 7th grade student in the BR Middle School; both are from Mt Holly. Aiyana is wearing Civil War era clothing as part of the video. Vincent was responsible for making the video in collaboration with BRAM, the Amity Art Foundation, and John Steward. Included in the video are several etchings by the artist, Edwin Forbes. The Civil War exhibit will change in the spring with different pictures. The exhibit consists of etchings and wood engraving images of the Civil War by artist Edwin Forbes. Future exhibits over the next year will explore the subjects of slavery, the South's perspective of the war, and battles and historical events of the war.
