“Always a bridesmaid, never a bride” is a saying that is being celebrated at Okemo Mountain Resort this Valentine’s Day. Okemo’s Running of the Bridesmaids is slated for Feb. 14. Anyone who shows up at the ticket window wearing formal attire such as a bridesmaid’s dress, wedding gown, prom dress or tuxedo, will be able to purchase a lift ticket for only $59. They’ll also receive a coupon for a free order of chicken wings at The Sitting Bull, located in Okemo’s Clock Tower base area. And, if formally clad skiers and riders participate in an on-mountain photo shoot, they will receive a voucher for a complimentary return visit.
“Everyone focuses on the romantic side of Valentine’s Day. What about all those skiers and riders who aren’t in a romantic relationship?” asks Okemo Events Manager Sarah Ebbott. “We wanted to do something fun for all those people who are always in the wedding party, but never make it to the altar themselves.”
When would-be bridesmaids and groomsmen purchase a $59 lift ticket for the day, Tuesday, Feb. 14, they will also receive a coupon for a free order of lip-smacking, sauce-laden chicken wings because there’s nothing as fun and challenging as eating messy finger food while wearing wedding attire.
To further enhance the entertainment factor, all skiers and riders in their formal finery will be asked to meet at a designated time and location for the official Running of the Bridesmaids. All of those who participate in this unique photo opportunity will receive a coupon for a complimentary return Sunday-through-Friday visit anytime after March 10.
Okemo has something special for couples on Valentine’s Day too. An EPIC Snowcat Dining Adventure includes a unique nighttime snow cat ride that delivers passengers to Okemo’s most eclectic eatery, EPIC. Following a romantic, candlelit five-course dinner prepared by Chef Craig Cornell, diners embark on a return ride in their snow cat coach.
Departure from the Jackson Gore Inn lobby is scheduled at 6:30, 7 and 7:30 p.m. Seating is limited and reservations are required. A prix fixe of $125 per person does not include tax or gratuity. Call (802) 228-1642 for more information or to make a reservation.
