MONTPELIER — Here's what on the agenda for tomorrow's School Board meeting.
After a student presentation, Jessica Little is slated to talk about special education funding.
School Board Commissioner Ken Jones will provide the board with an update on the school's involvement with the district energy project.
The big question mark has been how to deal with the Union Elementary School, which will require hundreds of thousands of dollars in updates to be able to plug into the system. Union Elementary is also the most inefficient of the district's three schools in terms of heating oil usage.
And after considering how to reach out to the community to explain the fiscal year 2013 budget, the School Board is expected to consider oversight of the Recreation Department.
The City Council has raised concerns about the council's lack of involvement with the Recreation Department, even though the nearly $600,000 budget comes from the municipal rather than the school tax rate.
School Board Chair Sue Aldrich attended the City Council meeting last week and was not pleased that the City Council was sticking their noses into the Recreation Department and School Board relationship.
Nonetheless, city councilors Angela Timpone and Andy Hooper are planning to attend tomorrow's meeting to discuss the matter further.
