Burst pipes lead to Salaam makeover

MONTPELIER — For the time being, men’s and women’s clothes will be canoodling on State Street.

For the last eight years, Salaam owner Andrea Miksic has been running her women’s clothing store out of her 40 State St. location, but water pipes in a neighboring vacant retail space burst, flooding her store.

That means that for the next week or so, Salaam has been relocated to Miksic’s other shop, The Men’s Store at 30 State St.

Miksic said she had been planning to renovate Salaam anyway, but now she has insurance money to help pay for it.

She had been hoping to have Salaam open at the newly renovated space this weekend, but she said the shop probably won’t be ready until next week.

Miksic said she’s participating in Art Walk on Feb. 10 and is planning a Salaam grand reopening celebration then.
