MONTPELIER — Since 1998, Capitol Grounds owner Bob Watson has been serving coffee, roasting coffee and now he’s expanding his business as a wholesale coffee bean distributor.
Watson said that when he and his business partner Bob Plante were crafting their business plan in the late 1990s, they knew they needed to do something unique.
“To make a special place,” Watson said, “we had to have that hook and roasting coffee was our way to do that.”
While, he doesn’t think there’s anything wrong with Green Mountain Coffee, there are lots of places around town to get it.
So they bought a roaster, found a distributor of green coffee beans, and Watson learned how to roast coffee.
