MONTPELIER — Kismet turns six this year. And considering that the restaurant had to be essentially restarted three times last year, chef and owner Crystal Maderia said she’s amazed that it is still open.
Maderia relocated the restaurant to its State Street location in January of last year. Then the restaurant’s basement — which housed crucial equipment and supplies — flooded in May during the Memorial Day weekend storm, and flooded again in August when Tropical Storm Irene blew through town.
She estimated after the May flood that it cost her restaurant and catering business $100,000.
“I can’t even believe we got through,” Maderia said.
