On Deck Online is just that - an online version of my weekly look-ahead-at-area-sports column, "On Deck," that appears in the Times Argus print edition on Mondays. Keep checking back for live blogs of games (from gyms, fields and rinks that actually have wireless); extra quotes that didn't make it into my stories; the occasional mail bag to respond to email from readers; good writing I find from newspapers and sports sites around the country; and more.

Welcome Back!

Welcome back - this space used to be called Sports Central, but to keep it linked with my print-edition column, "On Deck," that runs every Monday, I decided to change the name of this blog.

I am looking forward to using this space more effectively and more regularly. As before, I will take any suggestions from what you, the reader, would like to see here. I hope to live-blog sporting events that have wireless Internet access, answer your emails and voicemails, share stories and photos and news releases that for whatever reason don't make it into the print edition of the Times Argus, and more.
