Football is free this weekend at Norwich, though the school is encouraging fans to bring a non-perishable food donation to support the Vermont Foodbank.
That alone should draw some extra fans to Sabine Field on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m., but the game itself is going to be pretty great.
Norwich is currently on a five-game win streak and is undefeated in the league (Eastern Collegiate Football Conference) and is hosting N.Y. Maritime, which is 3-1 in the league. The winner would likely be named the league regular-season champion. The ECFC is so new that it will not yet receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III tournament, so for now the regular-season title is a big deal (it will be after the bid is awarded, but still!).
Very cool stuff.
