About On Deck

  • On Deck Online is just that - an online version of my weekly look-ahead-at-area-sports column, "On Deck," that appears in the Times Argus print edition on Mondays. Keep checking back for live blogs of games (from gyms, fields and rinks that actually have wireless); extra quotes that didn't make it into my stories; the occasional mail bag to respond to email from readers; good writing I find from newspapers and sports sites around the country; and more.

So Anna, I was wondering if you have a sports round up so to speak of what the teams look like from the start and any guesses as to what the playoffs will look like?

Hi Kelly,

Thanks for your note on both posts. I haven't been out to see any games yet, with vacation and just an odd schedule, so I can't really say anything either way on the playoffs, but I will definitely keep it in mind for a blog piece or a column a little later in the season. I will post something about what our area teams look like from the start, though.

So with your comments about the championships all being on the same day, I was wondering if you had every contemplated asking a local to cover games that you can't....to at least get a report of the games and possibly a few pictures....There is a gentleman here in Northfield that usually does the writes ups in the Northfield New...wondering if he might be available to cover some games for you....just a suggestion...
Bill Croney....might be worth contacting

Last home game of season...Wednesday...Northfield vs. Harwood...4 p.m.

then Friday vs. Spaulding @ Barre Town Rec Fields @ 4 p.m.
