I got an email from Vermont Mountaineer closer Kyle Grana's dad recently, sharing an update on Kyle's spring season at Bellarmine. Grana will return for his second season as a Mountaineer this summer.
Here's what Robert Grana told me about his son, who is the Cardinals' starter this spring:
"He is a starting pitcher at Bellarmine University, his record is 4 wins 2 losses, ERA is 1.27, he has 42 strikeouts in 35 innings, and opponents batting average is .177. HIs velocity has been 90 - 93, as the spring continues to warm up so will his velocity. He is enjoying the college season - Bellarmine has 18 wins and 11 losses overall, and is in the thick of heated conference race to get into the conference tournament. It is going to being an exciting 5 weeks coming up, to see if they can push into the tournament. Kyle is all set to come back to Vermont as their closer, something he loves to do, and is looking forward to being back with his host family and all of his Vermont friends."
