What's better than an update email from Vermont Mountaineers' general manager Brian Gallagher? THREE updates from Gallagher!
The first: "Check out footage of the Texas storm shot from the dugout and it made ESPN! Good quotes from Zach (Zaneski) who was a two-year Mountaineer and is now with the Rangers." Here's the link.
The second: "AJ Pollock was the LAST outfielder cut on the D-Backs today (Wednesday). Being the 26th player on a 25-man roster is tough, but going to AAA and being one of the top prospects, he will likely be up (in MLB) after having a great spring training."
The third: There's more exciting - and honorable - news for former Mountaineer David Carpenter. I did a story on his journey from catching for the Mountaineers to pitching for the Houston Astros last summer - what a great guy and a tremendous story. Now, apparently, the Astros brass know he's a pretty solid person, too. Check out this notebook on the Astros' website.
Congratulations, former Mountaineers! And thanks again to Brian for passing along the exciting news. Almost two months 'til the newest group of Mountaineers hits Montpelier for the summer!
