GRADUATION LYRICS
In case you’ve never heard them, here are the words that graduation favorite, Elgar’s “Pomp and Circumstance”—technically the “Land of Hope and Glory” section of No. 1 in D of six Pomp and Circumstance Military Marches, Op. 39, composed in 1901 by Sir Edward Elgar.
We are walking like robots
Though we’re supposed to be smarter,
Doing our best to look sober
Though it gets harder and harder.
People are taking our pictures.
Someone is giving a lecture.
Meanwhile we’re stinking, not thinking,
Under these caps and these gowns.
Only a couple more hours
Under the thumb of these clowns.
