              Taliesin Says “Hi”

Not that surprisingly, before he can walk,

before he can crawl, Squeaker says his first word,

not knowing he’s doing it, so soon

forgetting it, pure evanescent reflection

of trust, doing as we, imitating

even our breathing: out rather than in,

making a sound rather than not, tone

from lower to higher--those three things--first

stability of shape, triangulated

coincidence of questionables, meaning...

“love,” in Japanese. “Ai! Ai!”
