Good Morning!
Don't look now folks, but, well, fall might be sneaking in just a little. Maybe a toe across the line ... testing the waters.
With a little luck we'll enjoy a nice long Indian summer, but, if you haven't already made the phsychological preparations, you might get started. The days of swimming pools and backyard barbecues are numbered. Enjoy these days while we've got them. We could be raking leaves by the weekend and shoveling snow a few days after that.
Welcome, to another edition of Vermont Today.
Cheesy? Yea, but just how do you greet people on this Internet doohickey thingamabob. I mean, it's not radio, it's not television, yet it's not a newspaper or other print publication.
Anyway, welcome.
Let me know what you know. Let me know what you're thinking. Let me know what you need to know.
Or just write and say hello.
If it wasn't for Albert "they call me Al" Marro here, these early mornings would be pretty lonely.
I'd like to hear from you: [email protected]
Hey, I see the sun has decided to join us.
Sunny weather on tap
Today, however, will be something close to beautiful. With a high in the mid- to upper-70s, the weather guessers didn't use the "R" word at all today and the only thing marring a spectacular day is the prediction that the morning will start off cloudy before turning mostly sunny by mid-day. Winds will be light early increasing slightly to 10 to 15 mph by this afternoon, but that will just keep blowing the sunshine around.
It's going to be a nice one.
Enjoy.
Red Sox drop series finale in Minnesota
Jon Lester struggled but kept the Boston Red Sox in the game before Minnesota finally took advantage of their opportunities Wednesday night beating the Red Sox.
With the loss, the Red Sox missed the chance for a three-game sweep after winning the first two games.
Boston now heads to Safeco Field in Seattle for a three-game set against the Mariners beginning Friday night.
The Sox are off today.
Even when he's bad he's pretty good and Lester just wasn't real sharp against the Twins. The big lefty who accepts nothing less than perfect just wasn't, giving up four runs on eight hits while striking out four and walking five over 7 1/3 innings.
Despite those un-Lester like numbers, the Sox were never out of the game.
The Twins opened up a 2-0 lead before David Ortiz swung his big bat and tied the game in the eighth with a solo home run.
But in the bottom of the inning, Lester's string ran out. He had been getting out of trouble the whole game, but in the bottom of the eighth, the Twin took advantage, scoring three times.
Today's day off is the first for the Red Sox since July 21.
