Aubuchon Hardware will present Lt. Gov. Phil Scott with a check for $25,000 at 11 a.m. Monday at Aubuchon Hardware in Montpelier.
“Having a retail presence in Vermont for many decades now and being a member of so many of the local communities hit hardest by flood damage, we, as a company, feel it is our civic duty to provide our neighbors with assistance,” said Marcus Moran, Jr., President & CEO of Aubuchon Hardware.
Scott, who has been working with administration officials and private contractors to organize a coordinated and affordable mobile home removal project in a dozen parks throughout the state, said Aubuchon Hardware company leaders called and asked how to contribute to our effort to assist mobile home owners, who have been particularly hard-hit by Irene.
“Mobile homes are more easily damaged by water and can be more difficult to repair, so for many of these homeowners, the best option is literally to dispose of their home and start over,” Scott said. “But that can be a very expensive undertaking for low-income families. Our plan will substantially reduce the cost of mobile home disposal, but financial help is still desperately needed. So I know Aubuchon’s contribution will make a huge difference, and I thank them for their generosity.”
