Despite an overwhelming number of news sources claiming Terry Francona's tenure with the Boston Red Sox was over, the team and Francona himself have not confirmed anything as of now.
After meeting this morning, Francona, John Henry and Tom Werner left without saying anything.
General Manager Theo Epstein released a statement that said, "John Henry, Tom Werner, Larry Lucchino, Ben Cherington and I met with Terry Francona this morning at Fenway Park to exchange thoughts and information on the 2011 season and discuss areas for improvement going forward. We all plan on taking some time to process the thoughts expressed in the meeting. There are no immediate plans for an announcement."
Gordon Edes of ESPNBoston.com reported that he was told Francona told staff he would not return next season. The New York Daily News cited sources as saying Francona would not return to the team.
