NORTHFIELD — In an effort to provide consumers with activities for the two weekends of the 32nd annual Cabot Hosiery Sock and Chouinard T-shirt sales, groups around Northfield have planned events and fundraisers for shoppers and deal seekers alike.
The sock sale, held at Cabot Mill, runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 12, 13, 19 and 20.
Both Saturdays, the Northfield Rotary will be featuring all-day Bingo and a silent auction at the Masonic Lodge at 151 South Main St. Shoppers attending Bingo will find a spot there to eat hotdogs, chili, drinks and desserts.
Also on both Saturdays, the Brown Public Library will hold its "Big Book Sale!" All books will be sold by donation and proceeds will benefit the Northfield Flood Relief Fund. Flood victims are invited to rebuild their libraries for free. The book sale hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The annual International Market will be held at the United Church of Northfield on Main Street. This popular shopping opportunity offers goods from around the world, as well as from around the state.
Need a lunch break? A Soup Lunch is being offered at the market for just $5, which includes soup, bread, cake and beverage. Attendees are also encouraged to pick up a raffle ticket to benefit the church’s steeple fund. Top prizes: A weekend at the Inn at Essex; two Bash Badges at Smuggler’s Notch, or a Vermont gift products basket.
St. John’s Church on Vine Street will be presenting a Vermont Crafts & Products Fair on Saturday, Nov. 12, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the church basement. The fair will highlight local Vermont crafts, including ironworks, knit and sewn items, canned goods, jewelry and baked goods.
The Senior Center on Wall Street will also have a crafts and baked goods sale on Nov. 12 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. At the sale, people can pick up pre-ordered, take-out chicken pie by calling ahead at 485-8112. Also available will be hand-crafted items and baked goods.
On Nov. 19 and 20, the American Legion Auxiliary holds its Annual Holiday Craft Fair & Flea Market. This event offers a great variety of crafts, gently used items, baked goods and food items. The sale will be held at the Legion on Depot Square from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Organizers say this is a great opportunity to get an early start on holiday shopping and support a number of local organizations.
