WATERBURY — The Stowe Land Trust is hoping to help Stowe purchase 260 acres to create a mountain biking mecca.
Heather Furman, executive director of the land trust, has been gathering support for the $1.5 million Cady Hill forest project. If completed, the plan would eventually allow the proliferation of mountain biking trails in the area and enable connections with existing trails in Waterbury. On Monday night Furman went to the Waterbury Select Board to solicit members’ support.
The Stowe Land Trust has applied for about $200,000 from the Vermont Housing and Conservation Board, which will likely make a decision at its Dec. 6 meeting.
