WATERBURY — The Waterbury Select Board decided Monday to continue negotiations with Myers Container Service Corp. over a disputed $103,000 bill.
The town provided trash containers for people in Waterbury whose properties were damaged by Tropical Storm Irene. Bob Butler, a Select Board member placed in charge of trash removal, used both Myers trash containers and those from Casella Waste Systems to serve the town.
But when the bills came, Butler noticed a significant discrepancy in the prices. According to Butler, Myers’ cost per ton was about 30 percent higher than Casella’s.
