MIDDLEBURY — The 13th annual “Face Off Against Breast Cancer” two-day hockey tournament kicks off at 9:40 a.m. Saturday at the Memorial Sports Center in Middlebury.
The tournament will feature 12 women’s hockey teams from across Vermont in a competition to benefit the Cancer Patient Support Program and it’s patient services and emergency fund. Last year’s tournament raised more than $60,000. Organizers have set this year’s fundraising goal at $72,000.
The participating teams are the Middlebury Otters, Middlebury Mystix, Burlington Ice Breakers, Green Mountain Thunder, Burlington Tsunamis, Waterbury Wicked, Rutland Cutting Edge, Burlington Black Ice, Barre 32 Degrees, Burlington Evolution and the Manchester Rusty Blades
The weekend also includes benefit concert and an after-party at 9 p.m. at Two Brothers’ Tavern on Main Street in downtown Middlebury. The concert will feature local favorites “The Horse Traders” with a mixture of covers and original rock songs.
