From Southern Vermont reporter Christian Avard:
CHESTER — Should the town of Chester move Town Meeting Day to its original location and time? That’s for voters to decide at tonight’s special town meeting at Green Mountain Union High School.
The town meeting warning contains two articles. The first one asks to change the date and time of the annual town meeting from 10 a.m. the Saturday before the first Tuesday in March to 6 p.m. the Monday before the first Tuesday in March.
The second article asks to change the annual town meeting location from the Green Mountain Union High School auditorium to the second floor at Town Hall, the venue where town meetings were originally held.
At the 2010 town meeting, voters made a motion to move town meeting back to an afternoon time to accommodate those who cannot attend at night. They also requested a new location because second floor space at the town office was limited.
