Union Mutual names new VP

MONTPELIER — Union Mutual of Vermont Companies recently announced Robert F. Glass joined the companies as the vice president of underwriting effective Jan. 17.
Glass comes to Union Mutual with 24 years of insurance experience, most recently with The Hartford Insurance Group as the director of program business development. Glass also held the position of sales & underwriting manager at The Hartford, which he joined in 2004.
Glass began his career in 1987 with the Aetna Casualty and Surety. He later became a regional branch manager for the Travelers Insurance Company (which acquired Aetna), responsible at different times for western New York and later for Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Western Massachusetts and Worcester County.
Glass received a bachelor’s degree in business/finance from Mount St. Mary’s College and his Master’s degree from Colorado State University.
He currently resides in East Longmeadow, Mass., with his wife Kim. The couple has three sons.
