BURLINGTON -- The FBI is working to determine if a suspicious letter delivered to a Vermont office of U.S. Sen. Patrick Leahy is related to a series of other suspicious packages sent to the Washington and home offices of a number of members of Congress.
A hazardous materials team and a bomb squad was sent to Leahy's Burlington office on Thursday afternoon.
It's not clear if the letter is related to the items sent to other members of Congress.
Fewer than 10 members of Congress received the other letters, which contained a suspicious, but harmless powdery substance.
The other letters were postmarked Portland, Ore.
In November 2001, Leahy's Washington office was one of several congressional offices to receive letters that contained anthrax.
