Rep. Peter Welch's schedule says he will visit the Rutland Farmers Market this weekend. I won't be around but if anybody spots what-all he buys, feel free to make a note in the comment section.
I'd been harassing him since last fall when he made a show of supporting local business by purchasing the new Jonathan Franzen novel at the Book King. Each time we spoke on some story, I'd ask what he thought of it and he wouldn't have gotten around to reading it yet.
I keep forgetting to post this, but a few weeks back he'd finally read it. He said it was good, and that he's generally a fan of Franzen's writing. Not having read any Franzen myself -- I've been on a major Graham Greene kick for the last couple years -- I'm afraid I didn't have much else to ask.
But, anyway, Jonathan Franzen's "Freedom" now bears the Peter Welch seal of approval.
