I'll get into this a bit more tomorrow, here and on Vermont Today, but for now, here are the main points from tonights emergency Board of Aldermen meeting:
- In dealing with the water supply, the city's priority will be establishing the back-up reservoir, then repairing the Alpine Pipeline, then restoring Mendon Brook's feed into the main reservoir.
- At Alderman Ed Larson's suggestion, the Mayor will try to get car washes and other high-level water users to temporarily cease operation.
- The sewer pump station at College of Saint Joseph remains under water and its status is unknown.
- Grocery stores are getting trucks in, if slowly, so Rutland should not see a food shortage.
- DPW crews are clearing the mud as best they can, but with the water supply issue the fire department will not be spraying them clean as they might otherwise.
- The Rutland Town Fire Department is covering portions of the city inacessible to the city fire department.
