The General Committee discussed "real estate" in executive session, along with the mayor, city attorney and RRA executive director, for about 45 minutes tonight as I sat in the hallway playing sudoku on my phone. They came out and adjourned, no action taken.
With city officials volunteering no information, I decided on the only responsible journalistic recourse -- wild, rampant, unfounded speculation.
As I was walking back to the office I came up with a couple real beauts -- my favorite was "Could the city be selling the police department building to Blackwater in preparation to privatize law enforcement?" -- when Mayor Louras pulled up in his car.
He wouldn't say this was what they were talking about in the meeting, but he told me there would be a public forum next week to discuss the best use for the West Street armory building.
I'll talk to him about it a little more tomorrow, so look for the full story in Friday's (probably) paper.
