This slipped my notice in earlier coverage, but Downtown Rutland Partnership Executive Director Michael Coppinger told me today that the partnership has already been given $50,000 of the $100,000 pledged to it by CVPS and GMP when the Board of Aldermen blessed the merger of the state's two largest utiltiies.
The DRP gets the other $50,000 when the merger goes through, he said, and gets to keep the money it has even if the merger doesn't happen.
Among the DRP's plans for the money is a grant program for improving the facades of downtown businesses. Coppinger said he is developing the application process now.
