Since the future of policing in Rutland is one of the issues of the day, and since it looks like I'm spending the afternoon in court, I wanted to pass along this from the latest issue of Governing.
There's a lot of perspective on America's historic and current approach to crime in here, but what caught my eye was a piece about how Boston reduced crime by, instead of taking a blanket, wide-scale crackdown approach, working with former gang members to identify the most violent criminals on the street and focusing effort on them.
